Village of Sheridan Town-Wide Garage Sales

Sheridan’s Town-Wide Garage Sales will be held Saturday, May 8th. If you wish to participate and add your name to the map and listing, sign up at Holiday Salon, Tanning & Travel, located at 110 S. Robinson Street, phone (815) 496-2006.

There is a $4.00 fee to cover the cost of advertising. The deadline to sign-up and have your address included on the listing is May 4th. Maps for distribution will be available at Holiday Salon on Friday, May 7th. Maps will also be available at area businesses the day of the sales.

Village Garbage Collection

The Village of Sheridan had signed into a contract with Thrush Sanitation Service Inc. to be the sole waste hauler for all residents in the Village of Sheridan. This contract is valid through January 31, 2013.

Thrush Sanitation is obligated to collect trash from Village residents every Friday and recycling items every other Friday. If a holiday happens to land on a Friday (Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, 4th of July) trash will be collected on the Saturday following the Holiday.

Thrush Sanitation has asked the Village to remind residents that they will only pick up their tote-full of garbage or recycling items left in the recycling bin. Any additional bags or items left on the curb will not be picked-up unless the resident contacts Thrush in advance and notifies them of the extra trash. (Not applicable on Clean-up Days). Village Sewer Maintenance Fee

On April 13, 2009, the Village of Sheridan Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance #2009-15 “An Ordinance Establishing Sewer User Fees”. This Ordinance authorizes the Village of Sheridan to impose a fee that will be used toward the maintenance of the sanitary sewer collection system.

This sewer maintenance fee is $10.00 per month for each single-family dwelling, each dwelling unit in a two family or multi-family dwelling and each business entity connected to the sanitary sewer. These bills are being sent out on a quarterly basis and due within 30 days. The Board has decided to give any homeowners a $10.00 discount if the fee is paid for a full year in advance which would be $110.00 rather than the $120.00 year payment. This $10.00 per month fee is being deposited into a special Sewer Reserve Fund and will only be used toward any repairs being made to the sanitary system.

Should this fee become delinquent, a late fee shall be added at the rate of 1% per month, a lien shall be placed on the property and the homeowner will be responsible for all related fees including that of the Village attorney. The Village may also, at their option, terminate sewer service.
