A reminder to residents, due to the growing number of complaints about junk/inoperable vehicles parked in open private land, the Village of Sheridan Board of Trustees have passed an Ordinance amending Chapter 18 of the Ordinance Code Book – “Removal of Abandoned Motor Vehicles”.
It is unlawful to park any vehicle on open private land unless the vehicle is in operating condition, licensed and insured. For the purpose of this Ordinance, open private land refers to an area of land not enclosed by a garage or carport. This Ordinance does allow an inoperable vehicle to be parked on open private land for up to 30 days while under repair only.
Everyone will soon be getting out in the yards to work and enjoy the warmer weather and sunshine. Please be reminded that NO lawn rakings shall be placed for garbage or curbside recycling pickup.
Lawn rakings may be burned on private property if the burning is done during daylight hours and supervised by an adult and must be fully extinguished when done.
Placement of burn barrels are not allowed on the berm and no garbage may be burned!
Also, there is a common burn pile at the Village maintenance building (west end of Si Johnson Avenue). Residents may transport their yard waste to this burn pile and the Village maintenance department will dispose of the same. This pile is for yard waste only – no other materials may be disposed at this location.
